Family Stabilization

This program delivers interventions for families with children to ensure their housing remains stable by employing on-going preventative measures once an initial crisis has been resolved. It also acts as a support service for those who have accessed LIPI programs in the past and assists them in preventing a crisis from developing.

Tools used include:

Emergency Health Housing and Social Services
Provides back to school supplies and uniforms, medical and personal care needs, crisis supports, housing supports, etc.

Recreation and Community Fund
Recreational, Educational, and Sporting activities, this program addresses gaps in service provision to citizens throughout the Nipissing District

Santa Needs Help/Santa Fund
This campaign marked its 20th year in 2014, and once again demonstrated that strong community partnership that exists within the district. Community support included well over 400 donations of toys and cash. FOX/McDonald’s Toy Drive and the Ontario Northland Toy Drive (ONR) proved to be invaluable resources. The Near North District School Board served as Santa Needs Help HQ, which was pivotal in helping LIPI and partners pack and organize family deliveries. LIPI also coordinates and administers the Santa Fund food baskets and creates a one stop service for clients.

Community Housing Guarantee
Revolving loan and payment funding for last month’s rent and utility deposits, dependent on the capacity to repay. The program ensures private/public landlords will receive last month’s rent in order to provide an incentive to house individuals and families who are in a difficult financial situation but require housing.
